Boyaca Bridge

Boyacá Bridge is a small bridge at the Bogota-Tunja, 110 km east of Bogota and 14 km west of Tunja, in a valley that crosses the river Teatinos. Numerous monuments have been erected nearby to commemorate the historic battle of August 7, 1819, commonly known as the Battle of Boyacá, which granted independence to Colombia.

The bridge was built in the early eighteenth century, being declared a National Monument, Independence Monument in 1920.

The bridge was the epicenter of the fighting and taken to be tactically and crossed by General Francisco de Paula Santander and his army on the offensive against the royalist troops commanded by General Francisco Jiménez, there is defined the Patriot victory.

The historical significance of this monument is recognized nationally and internationally for being the scene where the incident occurred heroic battle, in your environment, then rose up the other monuments that glorify the immortal memory of these fields of freedom

The Battle of Boyacá was the decisive battle that would ensure the success of the Liberty Campaign of New Granada and one of the most important battles of the war of independence in South America. The battle took place on August 7, 1819 in Teatinos river crossing in near the city of Tunja. The battle was the culmination of 77 days of the campaign launched by Simon Bolivar from Venezuela to release the Viceroyalty of New Granada.

Capitolio Nacional



National Capitol building began in 1847, by law enacted by President Tomás Cipriano de Mosquera, is located on the south side of the Plaza de Bolívar. It is the best work of republican period in Colombia and one of the most valuable architectural buildings in Bogota. Whole structure is made of stone masonry and construction took 78 years (1847-1926). In his office were: the author, the Danish architect Thomas Reed, until 1880, that year, and continues the work the Florentine Pietro Cantini until 1908, the Frenchman Gaston Lelarge and end the architect Alberto Manrique Martín.
The building has three floors, a basement and four courtyards reminiscent Tomas Cipriano de Mosquera, Jorge Eliecer Gaitan, Rafael Nuñez and Alvaro Gomez H. Additionally, it has 4 main rooms (Elliptical, Boyaca, Exhibition Hall of the Senate and the Constitution).
The central block is occupied the Oval Room which holds the joint session of Congress (Senate and House) and develop the plenary of the House of Representatives (Lower House), is given possession of the President of the Republic and is performed election of members of the High Courts among others.
Its design is distinguished by its Ionic columns that make up the main gate, its construction was initially commissioned Dutch architect Thomas Reed, who was succeeded by Mariano Sanz de Santamaria Bogota, and from 1881 the Italian Pietro Cantini.

In 1904, President Rafael Reyes continued to work with Cantini, who, by resigning was replaced by French architect Gastón Lelarge, who proposed adding a large central dome, that idea was welcomed, because from the beginning prevailing trend towards the horizontal construction among other things not to compete with the height of the Cathedral.

With the architect Alberto Manrique Martín Bogota building was completed in 1926 under the chairmanship of Pedro Nel Ospina. The ornamentation of the building was made by the Swiss Luigi Ramelli, including masks and cornices that decorate the building.

Niza 9


Niza 9 is one of the thousand neigberhoods in Bogota, unfurtunatli is very dangerous cause, some gangs that are being formed there, but this just happens at night, well, but is different at night cause, in the morning is a beautiful and peaceful place, people working on their little buisines, and walking people with his couple, old people, and good young people.

AS you can see on that picture that spot is the neigberhood we are talking about, is a large an very nice place to life as we said a thousand time but is true cause we have a friend that lives there, and when we go to his house is pretty cool!

Primary Cathedral of Bogotá

The Archbishopric Cathedral of Bogotá is a Roman Catholic cathedral located at the eastern side of Bolívar Square in Bogotá, D.C., Colombia. It is seat of the Archbishop of Bogotá, Cardinal Mon. Pedro Rubiano Saenz.

The Cathedral was built between 1807 and 1823. When the Spanish conquerors officially founded the city of Bogotá (changing the original Indian name of the city: Bacata), they established in 12 huts and a hay-church, that -after being totally built- would take the name of Archbishopric Cathedral of Bogotá. The cathedral holds the remains of Gonzalo Jiménez de Quesada, founder of Bogota. The cathedral is the biggest in Colombia and one of the biggest ones in South America.

The Cathedral consists of a classical basilica plan in a Latin cross which occupies an area of 5300 square meters, with a nave and two aisles of equal height. It also has an altar and 14 chapels: 7 the south aisle, 6 in the north aisle and a front in the central nave, which are complemented by the choir and two vestries. The lantern and cupola is located at the intersection of the transept with the cruise, supported by four scallops and decorated in a half orange, indigo blue and thirteen tongues of fire. The interior painting of the ships and the chapels is white and vaults have finials in the center.

The cover is divided into two parts. The first consists of eight Doric pilasters that rise to the architrave, frieze and cornice, also of Doric, the second body is of the Ionic order and is decorated by eight pillars. Three sculptures made by Juan de Cabrera adorn the top of each door, the door of the north San Pedro, San Pablo south gate and the Immaculate Conception facade with two angels on both sides to crown her attitude, over the latter tops the facade adorned with an isosceles triangle meshed, moldings of the Ionic order and upon it a cross double pontificates of arms, beneath the statue, on the lintel of the door reads a white marble slab the inscription: " Under the title sponsorship of the Immaculate Conception of Our Lady, religious Santafé prosper. MDCCCXIV year. Fray Domingo de Petrés architect, cappuccino.. " The towers, built after the earthquake of 1827 measured 42 meters high and are based on the higher ledge, each consists of three bodies with openings for the bells, the south tower is dedicated to Santa Barbara, while the north tower San Emigdio is dedicated to a clock. The main door, made in the sixteenth century is 7.20 meters high by 3.60 wide, is adorned by two independent pillars in the form of fluted columns of the Ionic order, whose capitals ending in the cornice of the facade, and has knockers, bolts, studs and cast bronze hardware and five salamanders Spanish solvi. The side doors measuring 5.60 meters high by 2.80 wide. The atrium is 110 meters long and was built between 1631 and 1664 in 1815 was extended to the Capilla del Sagrario, in 1842, tiled and extiendió to the south edge of the square and in 1913 was rounded angle the corner to facilitate rotation of the tram for the race seventh.

Monuments


As if we wanted to immortalize the events and personalities that have marked the history of the city and the country, over time have arisen in various city buildings and images that somehow remind us of our origins and struggles as an American, is this here, you may know the location and legend of the most important cultural heritages in Bogota.


More than architectural bronze plated and supported by stone structures, these 27 capital's memory representations are symbols of the city that we go back in time to understand the contributions of social, economic and political character immortal memory of the country as Liberator Simon Bolivar and the independence heroine Policarpa Salavarrieta, better known as 'La Pola'.

Each of these representations materials remain in spaces and historic places equal importance to the capital, as is the Plaza de Bolívar, the Park of Journalists, the Piazzetta del Rosario National Park and Parque Santander, among others.

According to the latest report from the District Department of Planning (SDP) and the District Institute of Cultural Heritage (IDPC) most of these works of art are located in the towns of:

• La Candelaria
• Chapinero
• Usaquén

Procinal



Its not the best cinema but not the worst, yeah, maybe there are betters cinemas but tihs one has the sepecial thing, and... is that very cheap, in differnce, with, cinemark and cine colombia, the only trouble this cinema may have is that, is situated in very, alone and far malls, like Bulevar, and Bima, but it still a good deal to go there, cause as we said al ready is pretty cheap.

This cinema maybe kind of old, cause just now like 2 weeks ago, they put 3D, that is a tecnology that, other big cinema companies, like cine colombia and cinemark, all ready have, like a year and a half ago!

An other bad thing is taht is not to comrfortable, but as we all ready said is very cheap....
That the great thing just pretty cheap.

Virgilio Barco



The Birgilio Barco library is one of the most important and recognized library at Bogota, this library is one of the most visit because is with a very good localization, the library is located between many parks and ´laces for entraining also is visited from people from many near places like from Teusaquillo, Chapinero, Engativa. This library is also no so new because is from the year2001 that was the year when the library was fundated, this library has also especialized places for the different people that goes there and has different places for the different types for person they have books for bays, and also have novels and many other types of books that are cualified for the differnt likes of the people it have some enternet rooms conference rooms and other rooms that are for the people ore coperatives that need to collect many people for a meeting or something they can use that spaces because is a pulic library were anyone can enters because anyone can used any book or can use any place from there without any cost because the state pay al the costs.
hip hop al parque

This is a festival made in order to appruciate the lyrics and the rythm of the music; it is made up in order to appruciate the Hip - Hop.

This year, the Bogota Philharmonic Orchestra institution by the Ministry of Culture, Recreation and Sports organizes the park Hip-hop at the top of María Claudia Farias, you find that the general public and the media unfamiliar with the event and its strong influence, to know, and try to step away with the blatant misinformation that surrounds it. To this end, various media were summoned to a meeting with some leaders of the hip hop movement in the city.

District Festival of Puppet and Children's Theatre,

From 17 to 27 November in Bogotá 7th District Festival of Puppet and Children's Theatre, 2010 Encouragement to be released in 10 plays in 30 venues around town. This festival is conducted by the Association of Puppeteers of Colombia, the Ministry of Culture, Recreation and Sport and the Bogota Philharmonic Orchestra.

One of the theaters that will be part of this festival is the Golden Dragonfly. They will present five puppet plays for audiences of all ages. The entry fee is $ 5,000 for the general public and $ 3,000 for students with current ID card.

So if you want your kids to have a good time and to be entretained, go and get the to this fabulous festival!
Iberoamerican Theater Festival

The Iberoamerican Theater Festival, In Spanish "Festival iberoamericano de teatro", is a very kno9wn festival around the world it is recognized because its costumer and gest number. Its founder is Fanny Mickey. Unfortunatly, her body is not alive, but her spirit and soul is presen tin every season of the festival.
This festival started with the idea of having a space for talent in the acting arts, the talent is evidenced, actors and comedians are the mos wanted.

It became a reality in 1988. It was founded by Fanny Mikey and Ramiro Osorio, and launched as part of the 450th anniversary of the founding of Bogotá, with the slogan, An Act of Faith in Colombia. One of its original goals was to foster the integration of Latin American artists and countries before the world. Fourteen years later, it is acknowledged worldwide as one of the largest international events of its kind. This biannual celebration of life is Colombia’s most important cultural event. It presents artists from the five continents and has a profound social impact that transforms and enriches the life of the country’s citizens.

Nowadays the festival is celebrated in corferias, a festival center ubicated in Bogotá.

Julio Mario Santo Domingo




The library of Julio Mario Santo Domingo is located at the 170 that is at one side of the Abraham Lincoln School, this library has different spaces at different parts of the library specialized for each person, and also have many rooms for videos, music and others this library you can see that have many rooms also with her own boards with advance tecnology and also has differents rooms for capacitations.




This public library is the newest library at Bogota and is the biggest library of Bogota and is very important for the capital, that in the inaguration asisted the expresident Alvaro Uribe Velez and the Mayor Smuel Moreno This Library was builded in honor to Julio Mario Santo Domingo because he did a big donation of money instead off pay taxes for the construction of the library because he is a very rich and important person from Colombia

The library Luis Angel Arango is considered the most important library in Colombia. The library is very big and there you can find books that you have never seen like me when i got sorprized when i saw a book that was very interesting about a worl where were described some creatures that you could imagine never, this book was with other books of fiction but also you can look for books by the topic you want.






this library is very nice there you can see that there is a place for concerts and for everything you can see that there is a good place to forget about all the cotidian thing by relaxing with books that are exelent, and you can also rent them for read in your house or for a work, or thinks like that, other thing is that is very easy to be at there just because is in the center at the Candelaria, this place you can see also some paints of Ricardo Gomes Campuzano that is a reconized painter here in Colombia, also there is a good place for the conferences because there they have some rooms only for that what is very cool because you have all the things for your confortability.

creps










Creps is a restaurant that is famous here in Colombia because you can eat on that restaurant in many places of Bogota, The most famous plates are the creps for example when I went with my family we paid two bolognize creps, one stroganoff and one lomito pimienta there you can see a serios decoration and you can go to the place of salads where you can eat whatever you want and there also you can see that the only workers are women and one woman said me that the only men were the pilots of the transport of food, ther are so famous the ice creams too for example the day That I was there i eated a suprema that is one of the biggest and delicious ice creams of the restaurant.
